Members of the Connecticut Firefighters Pipe and Drums heard about Chris O'Brien's story and chose to sponsor him in their 8th annual fundraising event. We at the Trumbull Vol. Fire Co. #1 Inc. are extremely excited and honored by this decision. It is proof of the true brotherhood of the fire service.

This years event will take place at Tiago’s Bar and Grill, 211 State Street, Bridgeport from 1pm-8pm. Tickets for entry will be $10. Once inside guests will be able to purchase food and drink off the menu as well as enjoy live performances by the Connecticut Firefighters Pipe and Drums, 50/50 raffles, and much more. All of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated directly to Chris as well as a fraction of the food and beverage sales to help offset the financial costs of the injury. A good time will be had by all.

Tickets may be purchased at the door as well as the Trumbull Vol. Fire Co. #1 Inc. website beginning April 9th. Donations will also be accepted online for those who cannot attend the event but would still like to help. We thank you for your generous donations in helping us support our brother firefighter in his time of need.

With the lack of rain, warm temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds, there is a Red Flag warning issued for brush fires. This means that there is absolutely no outside burning, as fires can burn easily and spread quickly. If you see any fire outside, whether it is attended to or not, please call 911. Even a small fire outside can quickly spread to woods or a house.

Four Trumbull High School Seniors representing their TCFD pride at their Senior class photo for the Class of 2012

On Saturday 3/31 and Sunday 4/1, Trumbull Center hosted the "Basic Pump Ops" Class run by the Connecticut Fire Academy. This is a two day combination of classroom and hands on pump training. Trumbull Center had 4 members take part in the class, with a total of 13 from around the state. A big thanks to the instructors that taught and the members that gave away their weekends to train!

There is a special topic of training for the month of April. RIT, or Rapid Intervention Team, are a group of highly trained firefighters that assemble at the scene of a fire or other major emergency for one important purpose: to rescue the rescuers. If the firefighters fighting the fire become trapped, lost, out of air, or face another emergency, it is this group that is responsible to get them out as quickly as possible and into the hands of EMS.
